A two-day National Seminar on ‘Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Modeling: Concepts and Applications’ was held at Smriti College of Pharmaceutical Education (SCOPE), Indore (MP) on 1st and 2nd August, 2009. The Seminar was sponsored jointly by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCOST) and coordinated by Dr. Sanjay Jain, Director of the institute.

These expert lectures were followed by a poster presentation competition. About forty posters were presented by scholars and students of various Pharmaceutical Sciences institutes. The National Seminar was attended by nearly 300 delegates including the faculty members and post graduate and undergraduate students from far and wide representing diverse regions across the country and the region.


Dr. V. Prabhakar Reddy, M. Pharm., Ph.D., (USA) has received “Rashtriya Vidya Saraswati Puraskar” from International Institute of Education and Management (IIEM), New Delhi on 14th September 2009 for his outstanding services and achievements in the field of Education.


The FIP (International Pharmaceutical Federation) meeting was held in Instabul, Turkey from 3rd to 8th September 2009. The topic of the meeting is “Development of cooperative relationships between Indian Pharm. D. programs and US Pharm. D. Programs”. Members from about 124 countries have participated in the meeting.


UIPS Scholars Bag Best Research Paper Awards:
Ms. Anterpreet Kaur and Ms. Monica Thappa, research scholars working under the guidance of Prof. Bhupinder Singh Bhoop at University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, bagged BEST PRESENTATION AWARDS, respectively at the two recently held Annual Conferences. While Ms. Anterpreet Kaur received Best Paper Award at the Silver Jubilee National Conference of the prestigious Indian Pharmacy Graduate’s Association (IPGA) at Moga on 7–8 Nov 2009, Ms. Monica Thappa was awarded for Best Oral Presentation at the prestigious National Conference of Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists (IABMS) held at Chandigarh on 18–20 Nov 2009.

• National Seminar on “ADVANCES AND REGULATORY ASPECTS FOR PHARMACEUTICAL AND HERBAL PRODUCTS (ARAPH)” Organized at Chitkara College of Pharmacy, Rajpura

The National seminar organized at Chitkara College of Pharmacy made an endeavor to compile the recent findings and highlight the major issues related to above topics in the form of plenary lectures from expert dignitaries in the field of pharma industry and education and industry from all over India. Also, the Seminar was held to provide a platform for a young researcher to reach out to and develop insight into all the related issues on the regulatory aspects. Over 100 Pharmacy students, researchers and other professionals displayed their research findings in the form of posters during the Seminar.


48th NPW Celebrated by IPA-Delhi Branch
NEW DELHI: Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA)-Delhi Branch celebrated the 48th National Pharmacy Week (NPW) on the theme "Make Pharmacy your Career" from November 15-22, 2009 at New Delhi. NPW is an annual ritual organized by IPA every year in the third week of November for raising public awareness about the profession of pharmacy. With various objectives to meet the requirements of patient care and to serve the industry, professional fraternity, government and the public at large, this indeed is an important national event for the pharma professionals.

IPA-Delhi Branch Announces its New Executive Council for 2009-11
NEW DELHI: Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA)-Delhi branch has announced the names of its new office bearers and executive committee members for the year 2009-11. Prafull D. Sheth, past president of IPA was the returning officer for conduct of the election process.
