ABSTRACT:
The objective of this study is to conduct a physico-chemical assessment of water quality in the context of pollution status In a study of the Tapti River at Kerpani in Betul district, Madhya Pradesh” In the present study, three separate – different locations S1, S2, and S3. The average values of the physicochemical parameters were determined to assess water quality and the pollution status. For the analysis, several important physicochemical parameters were considered, such as TDS Colour, Odour, Chloride, Total Alkalinity, Calcium, Magnesium, Total Hardness, pH, Fluoride, Sulphate, Turbidity, Conductivity, TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), Iron, and Nitrate. Analysis of the water parameters revealed that the physical and chemical parameters at all three river sites—S1 (Tapti Barrage upstream), S2 (near the Tapti Bridge temple), and S3 (flow area downstream). The physical and chemical parameters of the water at all three sites were found to be within desirable limits, but some values were low or high, which affects water quality and is attributed to pollution in certain locations. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce pollution and conserve the river water.
