A simple, precise, rapid and accurate reverse phase HPLC method developed for the estimation of Vilazodone in Tablet dosage form by using a C8 Chromasil column (250 × 4.6 mm, 5µm particle size), with mobile phase containing mixture of phosphate buffer and methanol in ratio of 30:70, v/v with pH adusted to 5 with ortho-phosphoric acid was used. The flow rate was 1 ml/min and the effluents were monitored at 232 nm. The retention time was 6.008 min. The detector response was linear in the concentration of 4-20 mcg/ml. The respective linear regression equation being y = 66733x - 4974. The limit of detection and limit of quantification was 0.418and 1.267mcg/ml respectively. The percentage assay of Vilazodone was 100.15 %. The method was validated by determining its system suitability, precision, accuracy, and robustness parameters.. The results of the study showed that the proposed RP-HPLC method is simple, rapid, precise and accurate; this is useful for the routine determination of Vilazodone in bulk drug and in its pharmaceutical dosage form.
