ABSTRACT:
Ten Ruthenium (II) metal complexes of the type [RuCl2(N4L1-10)], where N4L represents macrocyclic Schiff base ligands, were synthesized using an ethanolic solution of benzil with aliphatic diamines such as 1,3- diaminopropane or 1,4-diaminobutane, or Diethylenetriamine, or 1,6-diaminohexane and 1,7-diaminoheptane, as well as 1,2-phenylendiamine. These complexes were prepared by reacting [RuCl2(DMSO)4] with ten macrocyclic Schiff base ligands. Characterization techniques included elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, and several spectroscopic methods—namely UV-Visible spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The characterization results suggest that all synthesized ruthenium (II) complexes adopt an octahedral geometry.
