ABSTRACT:
Melia azedarach L, is a member of Meliaceae and is a fast-growing deciduous tree indigenous to Asia and Australia. The plant is abundant source of bioactive compounds mainly limonoids, terpenoids and steroids. It also contains flavonoids, lignans and anthraquinones. The plant is known to possess anthelmintics, antibacterial, insecticidal and pharmacological properties. Various extracts from different parts and compounds isolated from M. azedarach have established various medicinal and pesticidal properties, showing its effectiveness against plentiful of pathogenic and pest organisms.
