ABSTRACT:
A new, simple, specific, sensitive, accurate, precise and economical procedure for determination of atorvastatin calcium in tablet dosage form has been developed using Zero order and Second Order Derivative Method. In the proposed method, the signals of absorbance maxima were measured at 247.5 nm. The method based on the native ultraviolet absorbance maxima. The drug obeyed Beer’s law in the concentration range from 3µg/ml to 30 µg/ml. The results of analysis have been validated statistically and by recovery studies. The method shows good repeatability and recovery with % RSD is less than 2. The precision and accuracy of method were confirmed by repeatability and by recovery studies. These methods have been successively applied to pharmaceutical formulation and were validated according to ICH guidelines.
